New Bumbo

Here's Kaitlynn sitting in her new bumbo seat. We got a blue color just in case she has a little brother some day. We decided that the poor guy will already have to use lots of "girly" things! Kaitlynn told me that she didn't care if it was purple or blue!
Here she is kind of playing in her new seat!

I have always been concerned about having a child who sucks their thumb like some of the 2nd and 3rd graders that have been in my class who STILL suck their thumb all day long. I swore that I would have Kaitlynn use a pacifier because that would be easier to get rid of. Well...instead we've ended up with a WHOLE HAND sucker! I'm not sure what's worse!!

Heart News!!!/Lunch/Baby Boyfriends

First of all a cute picture of Kaitlynn hanging out on the couch the other morning with her bear blanket from aunt Diane...
Here she is snoozin' away earlier this week...Here she is half way rolled over in her crib. This is a new issue. While we are thrilled that she is learning to roll from her stomach to her back it is beginning to be a problem at night. She will only sleep on her stomach and so if she starts to wake up and fuss she scoots around the crib. Now she will end up rolling over onto her back. She HATES being on her back so she will lay there until we come and get her back to sleep.

We have GREAT NEWS!!! We took Kaitlynn to the dreaded cardiologist at Children's Mercy today and found out that her heart is perfectly normal and we won't ever have to go back again. YEAH!! We are so relieved that she is fine and also that we can now save over $400 a month on health insurance since she was denied because of her irregular heartbeat.

She was so good considering we were there for almost 3 hours. She just smiled and "talked" to Matt while we waited to go back to our room. Then she snuggled up to me after she got weighed, measured and put on her cute little gown. I'm so bummed I forgot to bring the camera. She was sleeping when the nurse came to do her EKG so she just let me hold her while she put all the little sticky probes on her. She didn't even hardly wake up during the whole thing! Then we went down the hall to have another ultrasound done on her heart. She was awake then but just laid on the table like a big girl!

Neither Matt or I were looking forward to seeing the cardiologist since we had such a bad experience with her the last time we were there. We were happy to find out that a resident doctor checked her out at first. He was wonderful! It was funny because he kept asking us all of these questions and ALL of our answers were...no, no, no! He kept rereading her records, etc. and I could tell he was thinking "Why are they even here?" Finally he asked me what led us to them in the first place and I gave him a quick run down. He later said "So...if this would have been 40 years ago we would have had NO idea that she even had an issue right after she was born" That pretty much sums it up since you would have no clue that anything was wrong with her. He told us that he thought she looked fine and then the cardiologist came in and double checked everything and then gave us the great news that she is perfectly normal and she grew out of her heart issue!!

We are so thankful and feel so blessed to have our beautiful, healthy precious miracle in our lives.

Last week Dana, Courtney, Lindsey, Kaitlynn and I all met at Panera for lunch. The girls did great and had fun playing with their identical frog toys!

*Last Thursday we had a play date with some of the teachers from my school. Kristi's son, Drake is about 2 weeks younger then Kaitlynn. We decided to lay them down beside each other to see what they would do...
She's thinking...Ummm I think my daddy told me to not lay by boys
"Well...maybe boys really aren't that bad!"
Here's Drake making his move to hold her hand!Kaitlynn says "Hey! Get away from me...my daddy said I can't hold a boys hand until I'm 30!"

Annie & Jake's Wedding

We drove up to Council Bluffs this past weekend for Annie (Matt's sister) and Jake's wedding. It was a wonderful weekend and we had such a great time seeing everyone and celebrating in their new life together! Here are a few pictures from the big event!

REHEARSAL:
This was also the same day as my birthday so they had an ice cream cake and sang to me at the rehearsal dinner. Annie and Jean were even crafty and had some candle decorations on my table which I thought was very sweet of them considering they obviously had a lot of other things to worry about!

The original Sewing Clan...now they get to add Jake and myself, too!!
The extended family with all of the aunts, uncles and cousins on Matt's side. Yes, Matt's mom has 5 sisters! I was able to keep Kaitlynn quiet while the photographer slowly got us all arranged and of course she started crying as soon as he started snapping the pictures!
Jake is always happy to help out...ha ha!

RECEPTION: They had their reception at the country club overlooking the lake. It was absolutely beautiful! The weather was perfect so we were even able to spend some time outside.Dancing on the table with daddy. They do this a lot!
Getting ready to take a nap with Grandpa Rex
Here's Annie hanging outside with us. Look at how big her dress is!!

GIFT OPENING: Annie & Jake opened their gifts the next morning at Mary's house. It was fun to see everyone again before we left and to celebrate Matt's first Father's day at the same time. Kaitlynn loved to help them open their gifts!
Every time Grandpa Ken tried to hold Kaitlynn at the rehearsal and wedding someone would "steal" her away from him. Matt and I made sure that he got to hold her for quite a while that morning. She loves his so much and even fell asleep eventually!
Before we left town we came back to my parent's house and my grandparents came out to visit. Here is Kaitlynn with Great Grandma Clouse. Notice her new Iowa Hawkeye hat that Grandpa Ken got her. He also got her a big, socks and a black and yellow teddy bear. She's set for football season!

Robe/Dad Time /Play Gym

I put on Kaitlynn's robe and slippers the other night after her bath and tried to do a little photo shoot but as you can tell it didn't work out too well! Her hood kept falling over her eyes and... she kept kicking off her slippers! This morning Matt was singing and dancing with Kaitlynn which they do often! You can tell how much she loves her daddy from these pictures. "Oh Dad, you're pretty funny!" At least that's what she thinks now. I have a feeling she will be thoroughly embarrassed in the future! Dana found a play gym at a garage sale and told me that Courtney loves it. I happened to find one just like it at a garage sale this past weekend and of course Kaitlynn loves hers, too! I guess it makes sense that these BFF's would love the same thing. Ha Ha!! Check her out sort of playing and an accidental rolling over, too!

Oh how things have changed...

I'm amazed at how my life has changed in the past 10 weeks! I decided to take Kaitlynn to Walmart this afternoon after she'd slept most of the morning. I knew that this was pretty risky because I had a lot of things to get and I usually end up having to carry her and push the cart with my other hand while she screams. I just pray that she'll go to sleep while I'm driving. Well...today she fussed most of the way to the store so I kept running through different game plans in my head as I drove to figure out the quickest way to get in, get what we needed and get out! To my amazement she was awake the whole hour that I was there and only started to fuss a couple of times. Both times the pacifier solved the problem!!! Then she even went to sleep while I waited in line to check-out and slept the whole way home. I was so proud of myself and of her that it all went so well you would have thought I just won an award or something. Oh...how things have changed!!

This is my first attempt of putting up a video. I hope it works. This was yesterday when I had Kaitlynn in her carrier thing on my stomach , which explains why it's so close to her face! She was just "talking" away! I'm sorry that I sound so annoying, but she's pretty cute!

These are some pics of her cute strawberry outfit. As you can tell she is almost outgrowing it. I'm afraid there are several 0-3 month clothes in her closet that will only be worn once or twice!

Today is also Matt and I's 4th wedding anniversary. He got me some beautiful pink roses and wrote another sweet chapter in our book, "The Story of US" Every year we've been together and every important event he's written a chapter about us. I honestly didn't know if he'd keep up with it after seven years but he has! He's working tonight so we're not really doing anything special. Maybe someday we'll do something!
