Doctor's Visit

My doctor appointment went great yesterday! Her heartbeat was around 140 bpm. I've now gained 13 pounds total. I don't think that's too bad considering my goal was to stay around 20-25 total. Hopefully I can keep close to that in the next 3 months. When my doctor measured my stomach she said "Wow...you've really had a growth spurt this month!" I completely agree with that statement. Matt and I were laughing last night because he gave me a hug when he got home and now my stomach hits him first!

I got my orange drink for my glucose test which checks to see if I've developed gestational diabetes. I am going to a lab to do that after Christmas because they always have such a hard time drawing my blood. There is only a short amount of time that they can draw my blood after I drink the orange stuff or I have to do it all over again another day. I'm hoping they'll be able to get it in time!

I'm going to enjoy some sweets and treats during Christmas just in case I have to change my diet after the test. Hopefully I'll be okay, though.

I can't believe I'll be 25 weeks on Monday. Only 15 more weeks until my due date!

Baby's Room/ Ice Day/ Blessings

We ended up with a snow day since it is pretty icy out and so I had some time to work on the mirrors for the baby's room.

I think they turned out really cute! I think we will have bookshelves underneath on this wall.

Here are some of the room items that we have at this point. The pink and brown baskets match perfectly and those are going to go on the shelves in the changing table. It's all starting to come along!

I love this picture! The green in the leaves we are going to use as an accent color to go with the pinks and browns.

Here is my trusty side kick. He follows me everywhere I go!

This is what I see when I look out our deck door. Thankfully the temperature has stayed warm enough that we didn't get as much ice build up as they thought we might.

BLESSINGS:
Matt and I had decided last year when we lost our baby that we wanted to find an Angel Tree or something similar each Christmas and donate a gift for a child that would be about the same age our baby would have been if it had lived.
The social worker at my school decided to do a wish tree this year since we had several families express a need for assistance with Christmas gifts. When I went in at lunch the other day to choose a gift I made a comment about there only being a couple of things left. Our preschool teacher said "Here Meghan, do you want this one since it's for a baby?" When I looked at the tag it said it was for a 5 month old baby. Our baby would have been about 4 months old right now. It's amazing how life works out sometimes.
We are so blessed and excited about the little girl that we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of in a couple of months. We will never forget our first pregnancy and the child we never got to know. I wish I could erase all of that pain and sadness, but I also know that we wouldn't have the opportunity to have our daughter in our lives if it wasn't for that first baby. God works in ways we just can't always understand.

Registering

Matt and I went and registered the other night at Babies R Us!! We picked out all the big stuff together and then I went back with my friend Joanne later to choose the bottles, etc. Those little things can be so overwhelming when you're not really sure what you will need. Her and Emma were a huge help!
We are also going to register for a few things at Target since their isn't a Babies R Us close to some people. We still need to do that sometime. It sure makes it all seem more real once we actually picked out things that we will have in OUR house for OUR baby!
Just this past week I have really been feeling her move around. It's such an awesome feeling to know that she's just hanging out in there and goes along with me wherever I go!
We have another doctor's appt. on Friday morning. I'll update again after that. I think pretty soon I'll start going every 2 weeks for my appointments.

Ultrasound/Thanksgiving/Comments

Matt and I just had an appt. with the perinatologist (specialist for babies) yesterday. At my last ultrasound they thought the umbilical cord only had 2 vessels and it's supposed to have 3. This can possibly cause heart and/or kidney problems. After stressing about it for a few weeks we found out that the cord actually has 3 vessels which is normal and she looked great! She is measuring right at 21 weeks which is perfect! We are so blessed and thankful for our little miracle.

A couple of people said they were having problems leaving comments. I just changed the setting so that anyone can leave a comment and you don't have to be a registered user. Hopefully that will make things easier! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

21 Week Belly Pic and Baby Bedding

Here is my 21 week belly pic. My friend Joanne told me at church this morning, "If people don't think you look pregnant now they are crazy!" The other night Matt lovingly said "Wow! That's one big pregnant belly!" It's scary to think that I'm only halfway there.

The baby bedding finally arrived and now I'm so excited to start getting her room ready! This is actually a picture of the outside and inside of the bumper. The polka dots that look green are actually a tan. Although, I think we're going to use some green as an accent color.

This is the sheet that cam with it with the small polka dots and then the crib skirt. I'm afraid that the brown part is going to be covered with dog hair, but at least the stripes will be at the bottom.

Baby Treats and Craft Show

Kristi at my school found out she was having a boy last week so we did a combination announcement for her and a thank you to the staff for giving us restroom breaks and covering our classes for our doctor appointments. I thought it turned out pretty cute!

Dana, Lindsey and I attempted to do another craft show last weekend in Lee's Summit. The good news is that we actually made money this time!! It was all day on Saturday and Sunday and we couldn't believe how many people came through. We're doing another one in a couple of weeks, but it's not supposed to be very big. Dana and I decided that we would use the money we made to buy things for "the girls" rooms!

Belly Pic/ Hawkeye Dress/ Halloween

This is my 19 week belly pic. I can't believe we're almost half way done!
I have a feeling the 2nd half of this pregnancy is going to go much faster.
Here is our favorite police dog on Halloween.
Even if he is scared of everything!

You can just tell he loves it, can't you?
We got a good laugh out of it at least!
This is an Iowa Hawkeye dress that I bought yesterday.
I just couldn't resist! Matt loves it of course. He said it would
be perfect for her to wear on game days!
And my favorite part...the ruffles on the butt!

We did pick out bedding for her room. It's the "Lola" set at www.jcpenny.com if you want to check it out.
Now if we could only decide on a name. Here's our list so far...
